SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (1-1-1) took its first loss of the year against No. 19 Azusa Pacific (2-0-0) by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Scoreless after the first 45 minutes of play, APU had an 8-2 shot advantage while taking five shots on goal.
• In the 69th minute of action, APU's Rodriguez broke the stalemate with a goal into the top center of the net off a rebound at the top of the box.
• CSUSM had some chances late in the contest but APU kept the CSUSM advances at bay and held on to the one-goal win.

 
QUICK KICKS

• APU led the way in shots at 12-5 and shots on goal at 6-1.
• Both sides had four corner kicks for the contest.
• John Williamson, Alex Jung, Malachi Wright, Ryan Brown and Jesus Mentado each had one shot for the game with Jung having CSUSM's lone shot on goal.
• APU won the battle of possession by having control 59% of the game.
• 53% of CSUSM's possessions came in APU territory.
• CSUSM had just one offsides call while APU tallied five.
