LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (1-0-1) ended its match against Biola (0-0-1) in a 1-1 draw on Saturday night at Al Barbour Field.

CSUSM – 16' Stefano Brunetto (Assisted by Diego Chavez)
BU – 40' Kristian Colaci (Assisted by Haiko Hovak)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Receiving a short pass at the top of the box by Chavez, Brunetto put a shot into the upper right corner of the goal to give CSUSM a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute.
• From outside the box on the far side, Hovak sent a cross into the box that connected with the head of Colaci and found the left side of the net from five yards out to tie the game at 1-1.
• Despite no goals being scored in the second half, the Eagles upped the pressure with an 11-1 shot advantage in the period.

 
QUICK KICKS

• This was the first tie between CSUSM and BU since a scoreless draw in La Mirada in 2013.
• The Cougars last started a season at 1-0-1 in 2015.
• Brunetto's goal and Chavez's assist were both firsts as Cougars.
• Biola ended the game with the upper hand in shots (14-3), shots on goal (6-1) and corners (4-1).
• The game was a chippy one with 31 total fouls and eight yellow cards handed out.
• The Cougars were able to keep the Eagles at bay despite Biola controlling possession for 74% of the match.
