SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (1-0-0) kicked off its season with a 1-0 win over San Diego Christian (0-1-2) on Thursday afternoon at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• SDCC outshot CSUSM 5-4 in the first 45 minutes, but led the way with a 3-2 advantage on corner kicks.
• In the 60th minute, Meinardus headed a ball into the net off a corner kick from the far side from Saldivar to give CSUSM the eventual game-winning goal.
• The Cougars kept the Hawks at bay for the rest of the game and ended with a 9-0 shot advantage for the period.

 
QUICK KICKS

• CSUSM ended the game with a 13-5 shot advantage and also led the way in shots on goal at 9-3.
• The Cougars led in corner kicks at 8-5.
• SDCC committed 17 fouls to CSUSM's nine while eight total cards were awarded for the entire match.
