SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (13-24, 9-18 CCAA) fell by scores of 16-11 and 21-10 to Sonoma State (15-21, 12-15 CCAA) on Friday at CSUSM Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single down the left field line by Luke Reece that scored Van Linge from second.
- The Cougars went up 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning. After a leadoff double down the left field line by Stanford, Teisher brought him home on his own RBI double down the right field line. With two outs, Aiden Richert hit an RBI single up the middle to score Teisher.
- CSUSM improved its lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Stanford posted his second double of the day and tallied an RBI with a hit to center that scored Ethan Rivera. After an SSU pitching change, Teisher recorded another RBI double to left center and scored Stanford.
- The Seawolves broke up the shutout in the top of the fourth inning. After Otis Statum's RBI single to left, Torreahno Sweet hit a two-run double to right center to make it a 5-3 game.
- The Cougars matched the Seawolves three runs in the bottom of the fourth with a bases-loaded sacrifice bunt by Rivera and a two-run single to center by MacDonald that gave CSUSM an 8-3 lead.
- SSU put a four spot on the board in the top of the fifth inning with an RBI double by Joshua Medina, an RBI single by Statum, an RBI fielder's choice by Sweet and an RBI single by Braeden Holliday to make it 8-7.
- The Seawolves knotted the game at 8-all in the top of the sixth. Following a two-out double to left by Sean Pauly, Medina hit an RBI single to left to tie the game.
- SSU went ahead 15-8 in the top of the seventh with seven runs on six hits.
- The Cougars cut the deficit to 15-10 in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run homer to right by Teisher.
- An RBI single through the left side by Cole Brodnansky put SSU up 16-10 in the top of the ninth.
- CSUSM earned a run back in the bottom of the ninth on a sacrifice fly to right by Niko Diaz that scored Stanford with two outs, but another fly out ended the game.

- SSU reliever Michael Benz (3-4) earned the win after tossing 4.1 innings with two strikeouts while allowing five runs on seven hits, two walks and a hit-by-pitch.
- CSUSM reliever Conner Gleissner (2-4) took the loss after allowing four runs on five hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch while striking out two in 2.0 innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM began the game with a 3-0 lead on an RBI double down the left field line by Reece, an RBI sac bunt by Ethan Rivera and another RBI sac bunt by Kevin Van Linge.
- The Cougars made it 6-0 in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI double to left center by Teisher, a sac fly to center by Reece and an RBI single to center by MacDonald Jr. – all with two outs.
- A one-out RBI single to left by Richert gave CSUSM a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the third.
- SSU narrowed CSUSM's lead to 7-3 in the top of the fourth with a three-run blast to right by Christopher Wright.
- The Seawolves put up an 11-run inning in the top of the fourth to take an 11-7Â lead.
- A two-run single by Stanford in the bottom of the fourth put the Cougars within a couple of runs at 11-9.
