SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (5-8, 1-2 CCAA) dropped both ends of its doubleheader against Cal State LA by scores of 10-2 and 21-7 on Sunday at CSUSM Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- LA went up 4-0 in the top of the first inning after a two-run double by Will Pickets, a sacrifice fly by Drew Emmons and an RBI single by Thomas Chavez.
- The Cougars got on the board in the bottom of the second as Pat MacDonald Jr. scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Zack Berohn.
- CSUSM cut the deficit to 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth on its second sac fly of the game as Griffin Teisher scored on a fly out to center by Mark Stanford.
- The Golden Eagles took a 5-2 lead in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by AJ Salgado.
- LA finished up the scoring in the top of the eighth. Nick Penzetta put a one-out RBI single through the left side before Noe Garcia hit an RBI single of his own to right. Penzetta scored from third on a sac fly to left by Nick Atkins before scoring on an RBI double to left center by Johnny Pacheco. Wilem Drozdowski wrapped up the scoring with an RBI single up the middle to score Pacheco and give the Golden Eagles a 10-2 lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- LA started the scoring in the top of the first inning with an RBI single up the middle by Will Picketts to go out front 1-0.
- CSUSM took the lead in the bottom of the first inning. Ethan Rivera brought home two runs on a single up the middle before Griffin Teisher put an RBI back up the middle to give the Cougars a 3-1 advantage.
- The Golden Eagles knotted the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the second on a two-run double to left center by Johnny Pacheco.
- CSUSM retook the lead at 4-3 in the bottom of the second on an RBI single through the left side by Kevin Van Linge.
- The Cougars went up 6-3 in the bottom of the third on an RBI single up the middle by Niko Diaz before a Golden Eagle fielding error at third allowed Emilio Luna to score the inning's second run.
- LA took control for good in the top of the fourth with a seven-run inning to go up 10-6.
- A Zach Berohn RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the fourth cut CSUSM's deficit to 10-7.
