SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (2-5) fell by scores of 17-14 and 7-1 in the second and third games of its four-game series against Colorado School of Mines (11-0) on Saturday at CSUSM Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mines went up 2-0 in the top of the first on a two-run homer by Wayne Moeck.
- CSUSM cut the deficit to 2-1 with an RBI single by Adam Chadwick in the bottom of the second.
- The Cougars took a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the third with RBI singles by Rivera, Berohn and Griffin Teisher.
- After the Orediggers made it 5-3 on a I-Ly Hsue RBI single in the top of the fourth, an RBI groundout by Van Linge gave the Cougars a 6-3 lead in the bottom of the inning.
- Mines took a 7-6 lead in the top of the fifth with a two-run double by Alex Bumpus and a pair of RBI singles by Keene Tanaka and Hsue.
- The Orediggers made it a 12-6 lead in the bottom of the seventh with another two-run double by Bumpus, two bases-loaded walks and one hit-by-pitch with bases loaded.
- CSUSM had a five-run inning in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI single by Emilio Luna, an RBI groundout by Van Linge and a three-run bomb to right by MacDonald Jr.
- With a 12-11 lead, Mines tacked on five more runs in the top of the ninth to go up 17-11.
- CSUSM fought back with a three-run blast to left by Ponce de Leon in the bottom half of the inning, but a groundout and fly out immediately after ended the game.

- Mines reliever Rodney Gregg (1-0) earned the win after tossing 2.0 innings with one strikeout while allowing an unearned run and a walk.
- Cougar reliever Tommy Garcia (1-2) took the loss after allowing one run on three hits, a walk and a hit by pitch.

- A sacrifice fly to center by Rivera scored Niko Diaz to make it 2-1 in the bottom of the inning.
- Mines took a 3-1 lead in the top of the third with an RBI single to right by Taylor White.
- An RBI double by Alex Bumpus and an RBI single by Luke Folsom gave the Orediggers a 5-1 lead in the top of the fourth.
- Mines scored the final runs of the game in the top of the fifth with an RBI double down the right field line by Danny McDermott and an RBI single to center by I-Ly Hsue.
