Savannah Coyle earned two victories in the circle and
Ryann Steiner hit a game-winning home run to lift the Cal State San Marcos softball team (8-1, 2-0 CCAA) to a doubleheader sweep by scores of 8-6 and 7-5 at Stanislaus State (2-5, 0-2 CCAA) on Friday night at Warrior Softball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first after Andelin led off with a single, stole second and came home on Donnelly's double to center field.
- Three consecutive singles by Guiliano, Andelin and Coyle to lead off the second pushed another run over for the Cougars. With runners on the corners and one out, Donnelly crushed a home run over the left field wall to make it 5-0 CSUSM.
- In the top of the sixth, Coyle crushed a two-run single to center with the bases loaded, and Donnelly followed with an RBI double to left to extend CSUSM's lead to 8-0.
- In the bottom of the frame, Stan State broke up the shutout on Sarah Warden's RBI single to right that plated Luaryn Serda to make it 8-1.
- The Warriors scored five runs on two hits and two Cougar errors to close in on CSUSM lead at 8-6. Coyle recorded strikeouts on the final two outs to clinch the win for CSUSM.

- Donnelly's home run was her third of the season. She is the only Cougar who has homered in 2022.
- Starter Savannah Coyle (3-1) earned the win after throwing 6.0 innings with eight strikeouts while only allowing one unearned run.
- Stan State starter Kyndra Marzorini (3-1) took the loss after allowing five runs on eight hits and a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the top of the fourth, CSUSM knocked in two runs on a Steiner RBI single and a Stan State error to take a 2-0 lead.
- The Warriors got on the board in the bottom of the frame after Riquel Rivera was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
- Donnelly sent the ball high to left field in the top of the fourth inning to make it 3-1 CSUSM.
- CSUSM added another run in the top of the sixth on Mayca Brown's RBI single up the middle to plate Guiliano.
- The Warriors rallied back in the bottom of the frame, taking a 5-4 lead on a bases-loaded triple by Melissa Spencer and a Karli Dalbianco RBI single.
- In the top of the seventh, Coyle got things started with a double to left field before being pinch ran for by Sammie Olivio. Salgado laced a single down the right line to plate Olivo to even the game at 5-5. After a fielder's choice by Gutierrez, Steiner homered deep to left center to give CSUSM back the lead at 7-5.
QUICK HITS
- The Cougars continue to build on their best start in the NCAA Division II era.
- This marks the first time CSUSM has opened CCAA conference play with a pair of wins.
- Steiner's home run was the first of her collegiate career.
- Donnelly recorded her second home run of the day and her fourth of the season.
- Starter Zoe Ballen got a no-decision after throwing 3.1 innings and allowing one run (unearned) on three hits and two walks while striking out one batter.
- Coyle (4-1) picked up her second win of the day after tossing 2.0 innings and allowing one run on three hits and recording two strikeouts.
- CSUSM is the first team to score earned runs on Stan State's starter D Pamplin this season after she threw 19 scoreless innings in the Warriors' first five games.
- First game starter Kyndra Marzorini (1-3) came into the game in relief in the seventh inning and took the loss after allowing three runs on four hits.
- CSUSM is now 7-14 in the all-time series against Stan State and 5-8 when playing in Turlock.
