CHICO, Calif. – The No. 19/NR Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (5-1, 2-0 CCAA) closed out its five-game road trip with a 54-41 victory at Chico State (5-3, 2-1 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon in Acker Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
	- A 12-0 run in the middle of the first quarter put CSUSM up 15-5 with five different Cougars contributing with baskets.
 
	- After shooting 50% (7-of-14) from the field, the Cougars held a 19-7 lead over the Wildcats following the end of the first quarter.
 
	- The Wildcats came out stronger in the second quarter by outscoring CSUSM 13-12 after shooting 40.0% (4-of-10) from the field and outrebounding the Cougars 10-7.
 
	- CSUSM took a 31-20 lead into the halftime break with eight different Cougars recording points.
 
	- Zhane Duckett was the lone Wildcat to have more than one field goal in the first half, finishing with eight of Chico's 20 points.
 
	- A Duckett layup at 2:09 in the third quarter closed the gap to single digits at 37-28.
 
	- CSUSM responded with a pair of Tameilau free throws and a buzzer-beating layup by Katie FitzGerald to end the third quarter at 41-28.
 
	- For the first time in the last four games, CSUSM outscored its opponents in the third quarter at 10-8.
 
	- The Cougars took their largest lead of the game at the 6:44 mark of the fourth quarter on Tameilau's final layup of the game that made it 50-32.
	  
FAST BREAKS
	- The Cougars extended their conference win streak to 19 games that began on Dec. 9, 2021 with a 76-70 victory at Cal State Monterey Bay.
 
	- CSUSM's defense held Chico to the lowest points (41) and field-goal percentage (29.6%, 16-of-54) of the season.
 
	- The Cougars had a slight edge in rebounding over the Wildcats, 39-37.
 
	- CSUSM got 34 of its 54 points inside the paint.
 
	- The Cougars led for 35:47 and only trailed in the first four minutes for 49 seconds.
 
	- CSUSM matched its season-low 50% (5-of-10) from the free throw line while Chico was a perfect 6-of-6.
 
	- Tameilau's 16 points and six made field goals were a season high.
 
	- The Cougars are now 9-4 in the all-time series against the Wildcats and 5-2 when playing in Chico.
 
	- CSUSM has now won the past five meeting against the Wildcats.
