SAN DIEGO – In its last non-conference game before CCAA play begins, the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (0-4) fell 67-53 at Point Loma (4-2) on Tuesday night at Golden Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following a jumper by Milton that gave CSUSM an 8-7 lead with 14:51 remaining in the first half, a 10-2 run by PLNU gave the Sea Lions a 17-9 at the 12:33 mark.
- The Cougars narrowed the deficit with a layup by Mensah and a jumper by McCain to make it 17-13 with 11:08 to go, but a 9-0 run by the Sea Lions was capped by a Tobin Karlberg 3-pointer to make it 26-13 with 8:39 left in the half.
- CSUSM trailed PLNU 38-25 after 20 minutes of play.
- The Sea Lions shot 58.3% (14-of-24) in the first half while draining 53.8% (7-of-13) of its 3-point attempts.
- The Cougars were held to 35.5% (11-of-31) from the field and 14.3% (1-of-7) from beyond the arc in the first period.
- PLNU took its largest lead of the game at 16 points after Kaden Anderson nailed a 3-pointer 32 seconds into the second half to make it 41-25.
- Down 56-44 with 8:36 remaining, CSUSM went on a 6-0 run and brought the deficit down to 56-50 following a driving layup by Milton with 5:05 to go.
- A pair of free throws by the Sea Lion's Karlberg with 1:16 remaining were the last points of the evening and put PLNU up by 14 at 67-53.

- Milton led the Cougars in scoring for the fourth consecutive game while PLNU's Brian Goracke led all scorers with 17.
- CSUSM shot just 36.5% (23-of-63) from the field while PLNU came in at 47.8% (22-of-46).
- The Sea Lions tallied 12 3-pointers while shooting 44.4% from beyond the arc.
- CSUSM tallied nine turnovers to PLNU's 13. The Cougars have tallied fewer turnovers than their opponents in eight consecutive games dating back to last season and in 13 of the last 14 games.
- Both teams accumulated 33 rebounds while CSUSM had the advantage on the offensive side at 16-8.
- The Cougars racked up 11 steals to PLNU's three.
