Cougars Earn Five All-CCAA Selections

CHICO, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos women's soccer saw five of its student-athletes earn All-CCAA accolades on Wednesday as Claire Hernandez earned second-team honors while Jenna Frankina, Natalia Huntington, Allison Marcure and Sierra Moore were honorable mentions.

Hernandez is the first Cougar to earn All-CCAA second-team honors as all previous conference selections for CSUSM have been honorable mentions. This season, the redshirt sophomore from Santa Rosa tied for the most points on the team with five while tallying two goals and one assist in 17 starts as a defender.

Playing in all 18 games and making 12 starts as a forward, Frankina tied for the team lead in goals with two. The freshman from Folsom tied for the fourth-most points on the team with four while making 11 shots and putting three on goal.

Starting all 18 games in goal for the Cougars, Marcure posted nine shutouts while making 51 saves for the season. With a goals-against average of .667, the redshirt sophomore from Rancho Palos Verdes ranked second in the CCAA and 36th nationally. Her nine shutouts ranked third in the CCAA and 15th in Division II.

With 18 starts as a forward, Huntington posted one goal and led CSUSM with 39 shots and 18 shots on goal. The freshman from Rancho Palos Verdes had the most shots in a season at CSUSM since 2017 while her shots on goal were the most since 2014.

Also starting in all 18 games, Moore led the team with three assists while tallying one goal and tying for the team lead in points with five. The outgoing midfielder from Trabuco Canyon had the most assists by a Cougar since 2018. She ended the year with the second-most shots on the team with 22 while putting seven on goal.

This is the first time CSUSM has had five All-CCAA selections as the previous high was three in 2017. Altogether, the Cougars have tallied 14 All-CCAA honorees since joining the league in 2015.
