LOS ANGELES – The No. 12/18 Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (0-0) fell 62-51 in exhibition action at NCAA Division I Loyola Marymount (1-1) on Friday night at Albert Gersten Pavilion.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- At the end of the first quarter, the Cougars were tied with LMU at 11-all with Dynnah Buckner sinking seven points.
- The Lions came out strong in the second quarter, shooting 47.4% (9-of-19) with Alexis Mark leading LMU with seven points in seven minutes.
- The Cougars trailed 34-24 at the half after going 36% (9-of-25) from the field while going 0-of-5 from behind the arc.
- CSUSM came out hot in the third quarter by outscoring LMU 21-13 with Forrester going 2-of-2 from the 3-point line and Katie FitzGerald adding one as well. Â
- Forrester's second 3-pointer of the third quarter cut CSUSM's deficit to 47-45 with 29 seconds on the clock.
- The Lions outscored CSUSM 15-6 in the final quarter to clinch the win at 62-51.
FAST BREAKS
- CSUSM labeled Friday's game as an exhibition game while LMU counted the game, therefore improving to 1-1 on the season.
- This was CSUSM's first exhibition game since the  2018-19 season when the Cougars faced the University of San Diego.
- LMU outrebounded CSUSM, 35-26.
- The Cougars shot 76.5% (13-of-17) from the charity stripe while the Lions recorded 58.3% (14-of-24).
