SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (7-14, 6-8 CCAA) dropped a five-set heartbreaker to Stanislaus State (18-6, 9-5 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After an ace by Phillips, the Cougars took their first lead of the opening set on a block by Bartel and Wentzel at 10-9. Three consecutive points by the Warriors secured the opening set victory at 25-20 for Stan State.
- CSUSM led wire-to-wire in the second set to even the match at 1-1 with a 25-17 win.
- The Warriors racked up nine consecutive points to pull away from CSUSM at 20-10. A late Cougar charge wasn't enough as Stan State took the third set 25-20 to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
- The Cougars registered a 25-21 fourth set victory behind a .250 attack percentage, forcing a fifth set.
- The Warriors jumped out early in the fifth set and never let up, eventually taking a 15-6 win and the match victory.
