SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team (6-5-3, 4-2-1 CCAA) earned a 1-0 victory against (RV) Chico State (6-3-4, 3-2-2 CCAA) on Friday afternoon at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After a Chico goal kick, Hord gained possession on the right side and sent a low pass to the top right portion of the box to Mendoza. After one touch, Mendoza sailed a shot into the upper left corner of the goal to give CSUSM a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute.
• After 45 minutes, the Cougars had a 5-2 shot advantage over the Wildcats.
• CSUSM continued to keep the pressure on in the second half, outshooting Chico 4-2 and not allowing a single shot on goal.

• Mendoza's goal was her second of the season and gave her a team-high five points.
• CSUSM ended the day with a 9-4 shot advantage and had more corner kicks at 4-2.
• Jenna Frankina led the game with three shots.
• Allison Marcure earned her seventh shutout of the season in goal while making one save.
• The Cougars had possession for 59% of the match.
• CSUSM remains undefeated at home against Chico at 4-0 and now has a 4-2-2 lead in the all-time series.
• The victory gives CSUSM 13 points in CCAA play with four games to go.
