CSUSM Welcomes Chico, Humboldt for Senior Weekend

SAN MARCOS, Calif. –  The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team (5-5-3, 3-2-1 CCAA) will host (RV) Chico State (6-2-4, 3-1-2 CCAA) on Friday at 12:30 p.m. before welcoming Cal Poly Humboldt (5-3-4, 2-1-3 CCAA) to The Cage on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
 
Prior to Sunday's game, CSUSM will honor seniors Brooke Innis, Devyn Kelley, Chloe King, Grace Marks, Sierra Moore and Taylor Moorehead.

LAST WEEK
  • The Cougars posted a scoreless tie against Cal State LA last Thursday.
  • CSUSM then fell 1-0 on Sunday to Cal Poly Pomona.
  • After the weekend of games, CSUSM is currently tied for fourth in the CCAA standings with 10 points.

COUGARS BY THE NUMBERS

FRIDAY AGAINST THE WILDCATS

SENIOR SUNDAY AGAINST HUMBOLDT

2022 CSUSM WOMEN'S SOCCER NOTES

  • CSUSM will begin its 2022 season with a very young roster as it welcomes 13 incoming freshmen to its roster of 28.
  • The Cougars return 12 from the 2021 squad, including top-goal scorers Chloe KingSierra Moore and Hunter Morton and starting keeper Allison Marcure.
  • Marcure ended the 2021 season with the 25th-best save percentage in Division II at .855 and ranked third in the CCAA.
  • Graduate student Taylor Moorehead joins CSUSM as a transfer from San Diego State.
  • In 2021, the Cougars finished the season at .500 with an overall record of 6-6-3.
  • CSUSM finished 10th in the CCAA standings with a 2-6-3 record.
  • The Cougars were picked to finish 10th in the 2022 CCAA Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll.
  • Starting this season, the NCAA has eliminated overtime periods from men's and women's soccer regular-season games. All games tied after 90 minutes will end in a draw.


THE RENNEISEN FILE

  • Head coach Bobby Renneisen enters his ninth year in charge of the women's program and 17th overall at CSUSM.
  • Renneisen's 2018 team made its second consecutive CCAA Tournament appearance in 2018 while also handing No. 1 UC San Diego its lone regular-season loss.
  • Between 2006-13, Renneisen was an assistant/associate head coach for both the men's and women's soccer teams.
  • As the women's head coach, Renneisen is 52-49-31 (.511) for his career with the Cougars.
