SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The RV/No. 25 Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (12-2, 10-1 CCAA) extended its win streak to eight games with a 77-67 win over San Francisco State (6-10, 4-8 CCAA) on Thursday night in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• CSUSM shot only 26.7% (4-of-15) from the field in the first quarter which led to SF State taking a 16-14 lead.
• After a poor shooting performance in the opening quarter, the Cougars bounced back with 64.7% (9-of-14) from the floor, including four 3-pointers in the second 10 minutes. The CSUSM defense held the Gators to just 21.4% (3-of-14) during that time period.
• The Cougars dominated on the boards with 17 to SF State's 13 while in the first half.
• CSUSM outscored the Gators 27-9 in the second quarter and took their biggest lead of the game at the 1:02 mark of the second quarter on a Buckley layup to make it 41-23.
• The Cougars led for 10:04 in the first half while SF State was on top for 6:26.
• Dynnah Buckner led all scorers in the first 20 minutes with 16 points, going 4-of-4 from behind the 3-point line.
• The Gators went on a 12-2 run to cut CSUSM's lead to 54-47 with 2:24 remaining in the third quarter.
• SF State hit a 3-pointer at the third quarter's buzzer to cut CSUSM's cushion to only four points (59-55).
• Dynnah Buckner hit her career-high fifth 3-pointer to make it 62-57 at the 9:29 mark of the fourth quarter.
• A Hackson jumper with 33 second remaining sealed the victory for CSUSM at 77-67.

• CSUSM matched its best start in program history at 12-2 that the Cougars set during the 2019-20 season.
• The Cougars outrebounded SF State, 38-28, and finished with 15 offensive boards
• CSUSM scored 18 points off second-chance opportunities.

• SF State's 28 rebounds was the lowest a CSUSM opponent has secured this season.
• CSUSM led for 30:04 of the game and for the entire second half.
• The Cougars are now 8-2 in the all-time series against the Gators and have won their last five meetings.
