SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (6-5, 3-2 CCAA) kept its home winning streak alive on Friday night in The Sports Center by taking down Chico State in four sets (25-17, 21-25, 25-20, 25-22).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM got off to a slow start in the opening set, but a 7-1 run put the Cougars on top at 16-14 after a solo block by Rasmussen.
- Five unanswered points gave the Cougars the cushion they needed to make it 21-17.
- A solo block by Doering handed CSUSM the first set win at 25-17.
- CSUSM put together a .371 hitting percentage with 17 kills on 35 attempts and made only four errors while holding Chico State to a .176 clip (11k-5e-34ta) in the first set.
- The Cougars found themselves in a hole early in the second frame down 11-5 but responded to close the gap to 12-11 Chico.
- Another surge by the Wildcats gave them an 18-12 lead, which they extended to 24-16.
- CSUSM fought off five consecutive set points before Chico State was able to even the match at one set apiece with a 25-21 win.
- The third set consisted of nine ties and six lead changes with CSUSM recording 12 kills to Chico State's 11.
- CSUSM took control of the third set at the 19-all point, going on a 7-1 run that ended on a Doering kill.
- The fourth set was all CSUSM as the Cougars put together a .357 (13k-3e-28ta) hitting percentage. Â
- After a bit of seesaw action to begin, the Cougars rattled off eight unanswered points to take a 12-6 lead.
- CSUSM held on to that lead with Chico right on its heels, closing the gap to 23-22 on an ace by Jane Mcnulty.
- After a Wildcat service error, Doering served up an ace to clinch the set at 25-22 and gave CSUSM the match victory. Â
