SAN MARCOS, Calif. – A late second-half goal ended an 87-minute stalemate as the Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Concordia University Irvine at The Cage on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first 45 minutes came and went with the Eagles leading the first half's shot total at 7-4.
- In the 83rd minute, CSUSM nearly struck pay dirt as Juan Camilo Salazar took a shot from 15 yards outside the box on the far-left side, but his shot went off the crossbar and back into play.
- Still scoreless in the 87th minute, CUI's Ryan received a corner kick from the right side by Amadin. From three yards out and left of the keeper, Ryan headed the ball into the left side of the goal with a deflection off the CSUSM keeper and put the Eagles ahead late at 1-0.

- CSUSM falls to 0-5-0 on the season while CUI improves to 2-2-1.
- CSUSM tied its season high with six corner kicks while CUI took five. The Cougars have held the advantage for corner kicks in four of their five games this season.
- The Cougars were outshot 13-9 for the game, but they held the upper hand in the second half at 6-5.
- CSUSM once again led the battle of possession at 55% while spending 65% of its time in CUI territory.
