HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars recorded five blocks in the opening set.
- CSUSM was down 14-8 before tallying 10 unanswered points to make it 18-14.
- After trading serves, the Cougars closed the set with a five-set run to clinch it at 25-20.
- In the second set, there were seven ties and two lead changes.
- The turning point was at 18-17 when CSUMB missed a serve and the Cougars responded with four consecutive points with kills by Kelsy Rasmussen and Kiora Ridgeway.
- CSUSM snagged the second set on a kill by Kassy Doering, finishing the frame with a .387 attack percentage of claim a 25-22 win.
- The Cougars led wire-to-wire with only one tie at 1-1 in the third and eventual final set.
- CSUSM led by as much 20-14 before the Otters came roaring back at 21-19.
- The Cougars came together and closed out the set and match with a 25-21.
