SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime to Cal State Dominguez Hills in its home finale at The Cage on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars struck first in the 38th minute of play. Salazar made a pass into the box from the right side to Cuccia, who kicked the ball backwards as he fell to the turf. From the middle of the box, Alvarez let a shot fly into the top right corner of the goal and gave CSUSM a 1-0 lead.
- The Toros knotted things up in the 42nd minute. As Bah took the ball towards the end line on the right side, he made a pass into the middle of the box to Kaufman. Kaufman swinged the ball back up to the top of the box to Cartagena, who took a shot that went into the top right portion of the net.
- The second half remained tied at 1-1 as the Toros outshot the Cougars 8-3 in the period.
- In the first overtime, the Toros put it away in the 96th minute. A pass up the middle of the field by Kaufman found McKibbin at the top of the box. With a slide to avoid the CSUSM keeper, McKibbin passed the ball to Lopez, who sent the ball into an empty goal to win the game.

- CSUSM dropped to 4-11-1 (3-6-1 CCAA) while CSUDH improved to 9-4-1 (7-3-0 CCAA).
- The loss eliminated CSUSM from CCAA Tournament contention.
- The Toros held the advantage in shots (14-9), shots on goal (7-2) and corner kicks (6-3).
- CSUSM held possession for 51% of the match.
- There was a very one-sided foul count as CSUDH committed 23 compared to CSUSM's 14.
- Jeanca Olivares led CSUSM with three shots.
- Alvarez's goal was his first as a Cougar.
- Cuccia earned his first assist of the season while Salazar extended his team-leading total to four.
- The loss snapped CSUSM's two-game winning streak against CSUDH and is now 2-7 in the all-time series.
- This was CSUSM's first game to end in the first overtime period this season as the Cougars went to double overtime earlier in the year against Humboldt State.
