CHICO, Calif. – A goal with 35 seconds remaining in the second half was the difference as the Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team fell 1-0 at Chico State on Sunday afternoon at University Soccer Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 12th minute on a Chico State free kick from 10 yards outside the box, Jesus Mentado made a save on a shot to the lower right corner.
- Chico State had another opportunity in the 40th minute as a wide-open shot by Gabriel Delich went just right of the frame.
- After 45 minutes, both teams had two shots on goal, but the Wildcats had the slight advantage for total shots at 7-6.
- In the 53rd minute, CSUSM's Alex Jung received a pass from Juan Camilo Salazar at the top of the box. Jung proceeded to take a shot from the left side that went towards the bottom right corner, but it was saved.
- In the final minute of regulation, Chico State's Rice took control of a deflected pass near the middle of the box. Rice took a shot that weaved through multiple CSUSM defenders before eventually finding the middle of the net to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead with 35 seconds remaining.
