LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos softball team dropped a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) games, 10-0 (five innings) and 4-0, to UC San Diego on Wednesday night at Triton Softball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tritons jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Isabel Lavrov's single up the middle after the first two batters drew a walk and reached on an error.
- In the second inning, UCSD pushed seven runs across on four hits, two walks and two CSUSM errors to take a 9-0 lead.
- The Cougars broke up a no-hitter in the top of the third on Emily Paredez's one-out single up the middle. She advanced to second on a wild pitch but was stranded on a groundout.
- The Tritons' final run came on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth by Alyssa Wing.
QUICK HITS
- The Cougars dropped to 7-11 (3-8 CCAA) while the Tritons moved up to 19-7 (10-7 CCAA).
- Kaylie Hoskins (1-2) took the loss after 1.1 innings of work, giving up six unearned runs on three hits and two strikeouts.
- Last week's CCAA Pitcher of the Week Robyn Wampler (11-2) collected the win after tossing a one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and one walk.
- The Cougars gave up a season-high nine unearned runs after committing three errors in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tritons struck first on Danica Kazakoff's two-RBI double down the right field line in the bottom of the fourth inning to put UCSD up 2-0.
- UCSD tacked on two more runs in the fifth on Sherriah Harrington's RBI single and an RBI double by Keila Bosinger.
- The Cougars attempted a seventh-inning two-out rally as pinch hitter Forstie laid down a single up the middle and advanced to second on a strikeout-wild pitch that put pinch hitter Kayla Mack on first base. Both runners moved into scoring position on another wild pitch. The Tritons ended the rally with groundout right in front of the batter's box.
QUICK HITS
- The Cougars fell to 7-12 (3-9 CCAA) while UCSD improved to 20-7 (11-7 CCAA).
- The last time CSUSM was shutout in the first two games of a CCAA series was on March 18, 2018, against Cal State Monterey Bay (6-0, 7-0).
- Jamie Ponce recorded the loss after relinquishing four runs (three earned) on 11 hits in 4.2 innings of work.
- UCSD's Alanna Phillips collected the win after 5.0 innings in the circle, giving up two hits while striking out four batters.
