SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos softball team held on for an 18-11 victory against Cal State San Bernardino in the suspended game that was concluded on Saturday morning to even the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) series at 1-all after dropping the series opener 13-4 in five innings on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars found themselves trailing 6-0 after the first frame after giving up seven hits, including three doubles and a triple to CSUSB.
- The Coyotes added another run in the bottom of the second, scoring on a wild pitch to make it 7-0.
- Andelin extended her hitting streak to ten games with a two-out double to center field in the top of the third inning.
- In the top of the fourth, the Cougars cut their deficit to 7-4 after putting together a two-out rally that started with Wood's home run to left. Forstie doubled to left center and scored on Abby Callais' single down the right line. Callais plated on a wild pitch after moving to third on a single by Emily Paredez, who scored on Sara Whelehon's single through the left side.
- CSUSB's Haley Finn hit a solo home run to left to make it 8-4 in the bottom of the fourth.
- The Coyotes posted five runs in the fifth, capped by a Madison Veldman homer to make it 13-4 to end the game due to the eight-run rule after five innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM wasted no time to begin the second game, jumping out to a 3-0 lead on Wood's three-run homer to right after CSUSB issued back-to-back walks with one out.
- The Coyotes got on the board in the bottom of the first frame on Finn's RBI double to left center.
- Mack and Andelin each hit solo home runs, their first of the season, to lift the Cougars' lead to 5-1 in the top of the second. Wood drove in another run on a two-out single up the middle, plating Gutierrez who reached on a single to right center to make it 6-1.
- CSUSB's offense caught fire in the bottom of the second, pushing seven runs across on six hits including home runs by Finn and Veldman to take a 7-6 lead.
- The Coyotes added another run on a sacrifice fly by Gomez in the bottom of the third.
- Wood came up big once again for the Cougars, crushing a grand slam down the left field line to put CSUSM back on top at 10-9 in the top of the fourth. A sacrifice fly by Mack made it 11-9.
- The Coyotes evened the game at 11-all in the bottom of the fifth on a Finn RBI single and a CSUSM fielding error.
- The Cougars retook the lead at 16-11 in the top of the sixth after pushing five runs across on six singles and two walks.
- CSUSM added two more runs in the top of the seventh, taking advantage of CSUSB errors, to finish the game with a 18-11 win.
