TURLOCK, Calif. – The No. 23/17 Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team's late rally came up short on Saturday night as the Cougars fell 62-55 to Stanislaus State in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action in Turlock.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars trailed 30-17 to the Warriors at the halftime break.
- Stan State took a 44-31 lead into the fourth quarter after going 6-of-12 from the field in the third quarter.
- Hackson stole the ball and capped it with a layup to cut CSUSM's deficit to 50-45 with 3:47 remaining.
- After two offensive rebounds, Forel connected on a layup to cut Stan State's lead to 48-45 with 2:20 on the clock.
- Forrester's 3-pointer with 1:42 remaining made it a one-point difference at 51-50.
- Stan State's Lizzie Moore knocked down a pair of free throws to make it 53-50 with 1:18 on the clock.
- With 52 seconds remaining, Hackson made a layup while drawing a foul and sunk the free throw to once again bring CSUSM within one point at 54-53.
- Kyanna Davis' 3-pointer, after three bounces on the rim, dropped in to give Stan State a 57-53 lead with 24 seconds remaining.
- Stan State secured the win by going 5-of-6 at the free throw line in the final sixteen seconds.
FAST BREAKS
- CSUSM falls to 12-3 (7-3 CCAA) while Stan State moves up to 8-7 (6-4 CCAA).
- With Cal State East Bay's win over Cal State Monterey Bay tonight, the Cougars drop to second with Cal Poly Pomona in the CCAA standings.
- CSUSM overcame a 15-point deficit to get within one point on two occasions, but the Cougars never led in the 40 minutes of play.
- For the first time this season, Forel and Vermillion each tallied double-doubles in the same game.
- CSUSM's 13 steals were the highest of the season with Hackson registering a season-best five in her 40 minutes on the court.
- The Cougars recorded their lowest amount of rebounds of the season at 25.
