SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team got its 2019 season opener off on the right foot as it defeated Central Washington 1-0 on Saturday at The Cage.

Hannah Arcala – 1 goal | 4 shots | 3 shots on goal
Briana Daoust – 1 assist
Gabi Manno – 1 assist
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• From just behind the midfield line on a pass from Daoust, Manno sent a long ball over the middle to Arcala with only the keeper to beat. Past the keeper, Arcala sent the ball into the bottom right corner of the net in the 23rd minute.
• Yesenia Betancourt kept the Wildcats off the board with a spectacular diving save to the right side on a shot by CWU's Makinzie Packwood in the 79th minute.

• CSUSM improves to 1-0 for the season while CWU drops to 1-1.
• This was the first meeting between the Cougars and the Wildcats.
• CSUSM held the Wildcats to just two shots on goal while the Cougars made six.
• The Cougars took eight corners for the game compared to the Wildcats' three.
