HAYWARD – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team took care of business Saturday night with a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) sweep at Cal State East Bay.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Back-to-back kills by Kassy Doering gave CSUSM a 15-9 lead in the opening set. The Pioneers closed the gap to three points, but CSUSM stepped up taking the first set at 25-19.
- The second set was tight at the beginning before the Cougars pulled away with a 4-0 run to take a 10-6 lead. Another 4-0 run that contained two kills by Kiora Ridgeway gave CSUSM the cushion they needed at 17-11. That set them up for a 25-22 win.
- The third and final set was all CSUSM thanks to the largest run of the night at 7-1, resulting in a commanding 23-13 lead.
- The Cougars' .292 hitting percentage was their highest of the season, thanks in part to committing only 15 attacking errors .

- The Cougars improve to 7-4 on the season and 1-1 in conference play while the Pioneers drop to 1-9 overall, 0-2 in conference play.Â
- With the win, CSUSM broke the home-venue win tradition and took command over the all-time series record at 4-3.
- The Cougars last faced the Pioneers in the first round of the 2018 CCAA Championships, falling to East Bay in four sets.
