IRVINE, Calif. – Four unanswered goals in the second half put Concordia Irvine past the Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team by a score of 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at Eagles Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM went up 1-0 with a goal from Johnston on a pass sent in from Rafael in the 20th minute.
- CUI knotted the game at 1-1 in the 35th minute as Andre Arendt scored off a pass from Caley Powers.
- The Cougars took the lead once again at 2-1 with a breakaway goal from Hodges in the 44th minute.
- In the second half, the Eagles' Caley Powers posted the equalizer at 2-2 off a deflection in the box in the 54th minute.
- After CUI tied the game at 2-2, CSUSM nearly posted another goal as Rafael threaded the needle by passing the ball between two defenders to John Williamson. Williamson aimed for the upper left corner of the net, but the keeper got a hand on it.
- The Eagles took a 3-2 lead in the 64th minute after a CSUSM foul in the box forced a CUI penalty kick. As Justin Tesar dove to the left side of the goal, Elijah Amadin put the ball into the lower right corner of the net.
- A CUI free kick from the far-right side of the field by Brian Lopez went into the left side of the net off a deflection to give the Eagles a 4-2 lead in the 79th minute.
- In the 80th minute, CUI went up 5-2 on a breakaway goal by Lopez.
