Cougars End Season With a Series Split at CSUDH

CARSON, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos softball team wrapped up its 2019 season with a 2-0 victory to earn a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) series split with Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday afternoon at Toro Diamond. The Cougars dropped the first game of Saturday's doubleheader by a score of 5-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Back-to-back walks to begin the fourth set up Scardina for an RBI double to put CSUSM up 1-0.
  • The Toros tallied five runs in the fourth, highlighted by a Rachael Sandoval two-run homer.
  • Pinch runner Kymmie Woken scored on a fielder's choice in the sixth to make it 5-2 CSUDH.
  • CSUSM cut the Toros' lead to 5-4 on a two-run homer by Forstie in the top of the seventh.

  • The Cougars fall to 13-31 (9-28 CCAA) while CSUDH improved to 27-18 (21-16 CCAA).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Wood put the Cougars up 1-0 in the second with a home run to center.
  • Andelin hit a two-out triple to left field and scored on LeClair's RBI single to right to give CSUSM a 2-0 lead.

  • The Cougars conclude the season with a 14-31 overall record and 10-28 record in CCAA play.
