SAN MARCOS, Calif. – In the first game of its final regular-season series, the Cal State San Marcos baseball team tallied a 7-4 victory over Cal Poly Pomona in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Friday afternoon at CSUSM Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A two-run double by Teisher to right center scored Tanoue and Diggs and put CSUSM up 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
- The Cougars made it 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI single by Diggs to left.
- The Broncos cut the deficit to 3-1 in the top of the fourth on a solo shot to left by Patrick Vizcaino.
- A two-run single by Garcia in the bottom of the fourth put the Cougars ahead by four.
- CSUSM took a 6-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning as Van Til roped an RBI single into left center.
- An RBI single by CPP's Drew Cowley scored Vizcaino, who got on base via the passed ball after striking out in the top of the sixth.
- The Broncos made it a 6-3 ballgame in the top of the eighth inning as Patrick Flynn hit an RBI double to left center.
- An RBI single to right by Bahna in the bottom of the eighth put CSUSM up 7-3.
- CPP rounded out the scoring as Cesar Lopez scored on a CSUSM error in the outfield.

- CSUSM improved to 23-24 (19-22 CCAA) while CPP dropped to 22-25 (20-21 CCAA).
- Cougar starter Mike Lopez (6-2) earned the win as he struck out five and allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and four walks in 5.2 innings.
- Bronco ace Tim Holdgraffer (8-4) took the loss as he allowed six runs on 10 hits and three walks in five innings.
- This was just the Cougars' second win in the all-time series against the Broncos.
- CSUSM has now won its past five series openers and is 10-3 in series openers this season.
- Van Til broke the CSUSM record for most multi-hit games in a season as he tallied his 31st of the year.

- Austin Ott's two runs moved him to fourth on CSUSM's all-time list with 138.
