Cougars Victorious in Series Opener at CSUSB, 10-4

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team opened up its four-game series against Cal State San Bernardino with a 10-4 victory on Thursday night at Fiscalini Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cougars took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a two-run single by Buck to right and an RBI single by Garcia to left.
  • Garcia tallied his second RBI of the night with a sacrifice fly to center to score Teisher and put CSUSM up 4-0.
  • Buck put up his ninth home run of the season in the top of the fourth with a two-run shot to right center.
  • The Coyotes finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth as Kyle Csakan hit a solo shot to left and cut the deficit to 6-1.
  • A three-run homer by CSUSB's Gabe Chavez cut CSUSM's lead to 6-4 in the fifth.
  • CSUSM once again took a six-run lead at 10-4 in the top of the sixth inning with a pair of two-run singles by Buck and Van Til.

  • CSUSM improved to 20-23 (16-21 CCAA) while CSUSB dropped to 13-28 (10-25 CCAA).
