HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team dropped a 70-63 decision to No. 2 UC San Diego in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) semifinals on Friday afternoon at Pioneer Gym on the campus of Cal State East Bay.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buckner scored CSUSM's first six points of the game.
- After starting the game down 8-0, CSUSM cut it to 12-9 after the first quarter.
- Three consecutive buckets by Vermillion gave CSUSM its first lead of the game at 15-14 at the 8:03 mark in the second quarter.
- Buckner went the length of the court to get the last basket of the first half as UCSD took a 30-27 lead at the break.
- Both teams scored 18 points in the second quarter.
- A Hackson 3-pointer at 4:40 in the third quarter evened the game at 37-all.
- Forrester dropped a 3-pointer at 2:23 to give the Cougars a 42-40 lead in the third.
- In the fourth quarter, Hackson made three free throws to even the game at 52-all at 4:25.
- The Cougars broke a 5-0 UCSD run with a Forrester 3-pointer at 1:59 in the fourth to make it 61-57 Tritons.
- UCSD posted 24 points in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
