SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos head coach
Andrea Leonard announced the hiring of
Aly Torline as assistant coach. Torline is a graduate of Cal State San Bernardino where she was an AVCA All-America first team and CoSIDA Academic All-America first team honoree.
Â
"I am very excited and honored to have
Aly Torline join our program," Leonard said. "Aly is a proven winner. Her experience and success both as a student-athlete and an NCAA coach will bring that next level to our program. Aly is very familiar with the CCAA Conference and what it takes to win both regionally and nationally. I am looking forward to working with her to bring our program to the next level."
Torline was also a four-time All-CCAA selection, making first team three times, and was a two-time All-West Region honoree. She started all four years at the outside position at CSUSB, leading the Coyotes to three West Region Tournament finals and two CCAA regular-season championship titles.
Â
The 2016 CCAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Torline graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.87 GPA and earned her bachelor's degree in political science. She was also a 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee.
Â
For the last two seasons, Torline has served as an assistant coach at Wesleyan University where she also earned her master's degree in liberal arts. She guided the Cardinals to the program's first NESCAC Championship title in 2017. Last year's squad reached the NCAA Division III Elite Eight. During her time at Wesleyan, the program produced four AVCA All-Americans and four all-conference honorees. Â
Â
Torline served as a club coach for five years, working with 13-16 year age groups at Rancho Valley Volleyball Club and Club H Volleyball Club.
