SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team dropped a four-set California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) match on Senior Night at The Sports Center on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Prior to the match, CSUSM President Dr. Ellen Neufeldt and CSUSM Director of Athletics Jennifer Milo were on hand to honor seniors Olivia Aguilar, Maddy Newcombe, Aleese Wheaton and Eliana Williams.
- Four unanswered Triton points put them up 17-10 in the opening set. The Cougars cut the gap to 21-18 before UCSD claimed the win at 25-20. Hébert tallied five kills in the first set.
- Down 5-2 in the second set, the Cougars rallied back to take a 7-6 lead on a setter tip for a kill by Wheaton. The teams traded leads until back-to-back kills by Aguilar put CSUSM up 13-10 and forced UCSD to call a timeout. A 6-0 run put the Cougars up 21-15, and they cruised to a second set win at 25-20 to even the match at 1-1.
- CSUSM relinquished five aces and hit only .176 in the third set, falling to UCSD 25-15.
- The Cougars were trailing by one point at 15-14 when UCSD went on a 10-4 run to close out the match at 25-18.

- CSUSM drops to 15-10 (9-7 CCAA) while UCSD improves to 18-7 (12-5 CCAA).
- The Tritons held an 8-3 advantage in blocks and aces against CSUSM.
