SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team started California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action on the winning side for the first time in program history with a home victory over cross-county rival UC San Diego on Saturday at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The opening set was tight until CSUSM broke a 17-tie with an 8-3 run to capture set at 25-20.
- CSUSM vaulted out to an 11-4 lead in the second set before UCSD battled back into the set to take it at 26-24.
- The Cougars came out on fire in the third set, forcing the Tritons to a -.034 attack percentage.
- CSUSM continued its momentum in the fourth set, taking a 7-2 lead and never letting the Tritons back into the match.
QUICK HITS
- CSUSM improves to 5-4 overall, 1-0 in CCAA while the Tritons drop to 4-3 and 0-1 in conference action.
- CSUSM won every stat category including kills (55-37) and assists (51-34).
