CSUSM Tops Saint Martin's, 2-1

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team recorded a 2-1 victory over Saint Martin's on Saturday at The Cage to remain undefeated at 4-0 in 2018.

CSUSM – 33' Josh Mendez (Assist: Tyler Schrock)
CSUSM – 69' Josh Mendez (Assist: Robbie Dirks)
SMU – 76' Brandon Madsen (No Assist)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mendez got a lead pass from Schrock before taking two touches and crushing the ball to the low left corner to give CSUSM a 1-0 lead.
  • Mendez's second goal came on a cross from Dirks and tapped it to the bottom of the left corner.
  • SMU's lone goal came in the 76th minute on a penalty kick taken by Madsen.
 
QUICK KICKS
  • CSUSM improves to 4-0 while the Saints fall to 1-3 on the year.
  • Justin Tesar tallied three saves in the contest.
  • The Cougars held a 12-11 advantage on shots with 6-5 on frame.
