Cougars Move to 5-0 with Conference-Opening Shutout

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team clinched a 1-0 victory over Cal State East Bay in its California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) season opener on Friday afternoon at The Cage. The Cougars remain undefeated in 2018 at 5-0 while the Pioneers dropped to 1-3 on the season.

CSUSM – 24' Juan Camilo Salazar (No Assist)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • From right outside the box, Salazar's free kick broke through the Pioneer wall to hit the back of the net in the near corner.
 
QUICK KICKS
  • Salazar's goal was his second of the season and his first game-winner.
  • Justin Tesar tied his season high in saves with six in the contest.
  • CSUSM is off to its best start since 2013 when the Cougars opened the season with a six-game win streak.
