The men's soccer team kicks things off today, followed by women's soccer on Thursday, then on Saturday both teams are back on the pitch and the volleyball team closes out the week by hosting UC San Diego at 7 p.m.

• A David Martin golden goal with four seconds remaining in overtime lifted the Cougars to a 3-2 victory over Biola on Saturday.
• For the second consecutive season, CSUSM opened its season with a 2-1 victory over Concordia Irvine last Thursday.

MONTANA STATE BILLINGS DETAILS

• In their only meeting, the Cougars and Yellowjackets drew a 1-1 tie in St. George in 2015.
• MSUB fell 0-1 in double overtime to No. 4 Cal Poly Pomona in its season opener.
• The Yellowjackets gave up four goals, while only scoring once at Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday.
• MSUB was predicted to finish third in the GNAC Preseason Men's Soccer Poll. 

 
4-1-1 ON SAINT MARTIN'S

• In 2016, CSUSM recorded a 3-0 win over Saint Martin's in its only meeting.
• The Saints suffered a 3-1 loss to Westminster College (Utah) on Aug. 30.
• A late Cal State L.A. goal lifted the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 win over Saint Martin's on Sept. 1.
• The Saints were voted to finish seventh (last) in the GNAC Preseason Men's Soccer Poll. 

 
THE PULVERS FILE

• This season marks the 13th season for head coach Ron Pulvers at CSUSM.
• He notched his 100th win as the men's head coach on Oct. 7, 2016 in a road victory over Cal State Monterey Bay.
• In 22 seasons as a collegiate head men's soccer coach, Pulvers holds a 229-149-35 (.597) career record. He is 84-42-24 (.640) in charge of the CSUSM women's program.
• From 2006-13, Pulvers led both the CSUSM men's and women's soccer teams.

• Head coach Bobby Renneisen enters his fifth year in charge of the women's program and 13th overall at CSUSM

• The Cougars went 2-2 at the D2 West Region Showcase hosted by Concordia Irvine.
• CSUSM dropped back-to-back matches last Friday to Alaska Anchorage and Central Washington, who both received votes in the AVCA Preseason National Poll.
• The Cougars responded with a 3-1 win against Notre Dame de Namur before sweeping host CUI in the tournament finale. It was CSUSM's first victory over CUI in program history.
• Junior Maddy Newcombe was named to the All-Tournament Pod B Team. 

 
UC SAN DIEGO UPDATE

• CSUSM swept the Tritons last season, recording the first victory over UCSD in program history.
• UCSD collected two wins at the First Hawaiian Bank Volleyball Challenge against Hawaii Pacific (3-1) and Hawaii-Hilo (3-2).
•  In the D2 West Region Showcase, UCSD went 2-2 with sweeps over Seattle Pacific and host Fresno Pacific, while dropping three straight to Chaminade and Simon Fraser.

 
THE LEONARD FILE

• Head coach Andrea Leonard enters her eighth season in charge of the Cougar volleyball team, a program she has built from the ground up since arriving on campus in 2010.
• Leonard was CSUSM's first-ever CCAA Coach of the Year after guiding the Cougars to a third place finish in the overall standings last season.
