Cougars Fall to Dixie State

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team dropped a hard fought 2-0 decision to Dixie State on Saturday afternoon at The Cage.

DSU – 18' Ambree Bennett (Assists: Tori Page, Nichole Mertz)
DSU – 65' Whitley Johns (Assist: Lauren Buxton)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Eighteen minutes into the opening half, the Trailblazers' Ambree Bennett sent the ball into the bottom left corner from 10 yards out to give the visiting team the early 1-0 advantage.
  • After intermission, Dixie State added an insurance goal when Whitley Johns broke away for a one-on-one and tapped it into an empty goal.
 
QUICK KICKS
  • After being outshot in the first half 4-0, the Cougars stepped it up in the second half with a 5-2 shot advantage.
  • CSUSM's Bailey Cockrill tallied two saves on the day.
  • Alyssa Pigoni led CSUSM with two shots.
