SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team fought hard but ended up dropping a three-set decision to No. 6 nationally-ranked Lewis University on Friday night in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the teams passed the double-digit mark in the first set, neither team took a larger lead than two points until Lewis went on a 5-1 run to close out the opening set.
- The Flyers jumped out early with the Cougars playing catch-up the entire second set. CSUSM cut the gap to 21-20 before Lewis scored four unanswered points.
- The Cougars kept the third frame close until Lewis went on a run to take a 19-13 lead. CSUSM answered with 10-5 run of its own to close the game at 24-23 before a Cougar error concluded the match.

- Faith Fortuné tallied four blocks, putting her on top of the CCAA leaderboard with a season total of 14 blocks.
- Maddy Newcombe narrowly missed out on getting her third double-double of the season, finishing with nine kills and 14 digs.
