TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team earned a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) series split at Stanislaus State after recording a 10-6 win on Monday at Warrior Baseball Field.
With the win, CSUSM improves to 15-19 overall and 10-18 in CCAA. The Warriors fall to 20-16 on the season, 16-14 in conference action.
Junior
Isaias Torres went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a double. Senior
Aidan Stinnett also had a strong performance at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two runs and a double. Freshman
Garrett Apker (1-2) picked up his first collegiate win with after a tossing a shutout eighth inning.
CSUSM got on the board first with a run in the second inning. Junior
Austin Ott lined a leadoff triple to the warning track into the gap in left center and scored on junior
Domenic Antonacci single back up the middle.
Stan State wasted no time, scoring five runs on three hits in the bottom of the frame.
CSUSM cut the Warriors' lead to 5-4 in the top of the third. Senior
Tyler Place drew a walk to begin the inning and advanced to third on Stinnett's single that chopped through the right side. Torres hit the ball off the end of the bat for an RBI single through the right alley way. After junior
Justin Mellano walked to load the bases, sophomore
Anthony Rodriguez lined one into left field for a two-out 2-RBI single.
The Warriors extended their lead to 6-4 with a run in the bottom of the fifth on Anthony Enwiya's ball down the left line.
The Cougars evened the score in the top of the sixth, posting two runs on three hits. Tanoe hit a one-out triple to deep left center field and plated on Stinnett's rocket to left center for a double. Torres tied the game at 6-6 with a RBI double down the left line to the corner.
The ninth inning proved to be successful for CSUSM. Ott hammered the ball to deep right center for a RBI double after Torres reached on an error to begin the inning. A hit by a pitch and a Stan State error put Antonacci and Mellano on to load the bases. Junior
Marcus Wilhite drove a 2-RBI bouncing single to right center to extend the CSUSM lead to 9-6. The runs kept coming for CSUSM as Place roped a RBI single down the left line.

Brady Corson retired the side in the ninth to give CSUSM the win.
