SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos softball team dropped a pair of games at Cal State San Bernardino, 6-3 and 11-3, on Friday afternoon in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action.
Sophomore
Karen Roman tallied four hits with a run while senior
Karla Bernal went 3-for-3 on the day.
The Cougars will wrap up their 2018 season with a twinbill at CSUSB with the first pitch slated for 11 a.m.
GAME 1: CSUSB 6 – CSUSM 3
The Coyotes took a 3-0 lead on four singles in the second inning.
Briana Quintana's RBI double in the third frame raised CSUSB's lead to 4-0.
CSUSM got on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Sophomore
Abby Callais doubled to left field to begin the frame and later scored on Roman's infield single.
After the Coyotes posted a run in the sixth, CSUSM pushed two runs by taking advantage of two CSUSB errors and Callais' second hit of the game to make it 6-3.
GAME 2: CSUSB 11 – CSUSM 3 (5 innings)
CSUSB struck early, scattering 10 runs in the first three frames highlighted by home runs by Jessica Brown, Dominique Walker and Jamiana Gateb.
Sophomore
Melody Forstie got a home run of her own in the top of the fourth, a two-run blast over the center field wall after Roman led off the inning with a single.
Junior
Kat Calderon followed with a single up the middle and later scored on freshman
Raven LeClair's single to the left field.
The Coyotes ended the game in the fifth inning on Brown's one-out RBI single.
