SAN MARCOS, Calif. – With a solid 7-2 win in Saturday's twinbill opener, the Cal State San Marcos softball team earned a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) series win over Cal State East Bay on Senior Day. The Cougars late rally fell short in the series finale, dropping the game 5-4.
Junior
Rae Camez went 4-for-7 with a double and home run while sophomore
Karen Roman had a 3-for-5 performance with a double. Junior
Caitlin Vinyard picked up her second complete game victory of the weekend, striking out six and allowing only two runs.

Amanda Meek.

Laurie Nevarez. "They epitomize everything you look for in student-athletes. I'm so proud to call them Cougars."
The Cougars host Concordia-Irvine in a nonconference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 18 at 2 p.m.
GAME 1: CSUSM 7 – CSUEB 2
Camez and sophomore
Abby Callais hit back-to-back two-out home runs in the opening frame to give CSUSM a 2-0 early lead.
A Camez RBI single in the third scored freshman
Raven LeClair and raised CSUSM's lead to 3-0.
The Pioneers got on the board in the top of the fourth on Meghan Araneta's RBI.
CSUSM tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the frame. Roman led off with a double to right center. Back-to-back singles by junior
Kat Calderon and Bernal scored freshman
Kymmie Woken, who was pinch running for Roman. Calderon later scored on a wild pitch. After Langdon hit an infield single, LeClair hit a sacrifice fly to center field to plate Bernal and give CSUSM a 6-1 lead.
Junior
Kammy Fisher, pinching hitting to lead off the sixth, hit her first home run in a Cougar jersey to make it 7-1.
Consecutive doubles by Jennifer Palmares and Courtney Leyba gave the Pioneers their second and final run in the seventh.
GAME 2: CSUEB 5 – CSUSM 4
The Pioneers took a 2-0 lead in the third after accumulating four hits. They extended their lead to 5-0 after Rachel Tadlock's three-run homer in the fifth.
CSUSM rallied in the sixth, scoring four runs on two hits. Cerulle and Callais were both hit by a pitch while Camez singled to load the bases. Freshman
Jaqlyn Newhouser drew a four-pitch RBI walk and Roman followed with a RBI single to right field. Calderon pushed a run across on a ground out and Bernal sac flied to center.
