HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team dropped a 14-5 decision to Cal State East Bay in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) series finale on Sunday, March 25 at Pioneer Field.
The Cougars fall to 13-13 overall and 8-12 in conference play. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 13-13 on the season and 10-10 in CCAA action.
Junior
Isaias Torres went 2-for-3 with a double and a run. Eight other Cougars notched singles in the game.
CSUSM struck first in the opening frame as junior
Cabot Van Til led off with a single and later scored on junior
Marcus Wilhite's infield RBI single.
In the bottom of the frame, the Pioneers posted three runs on triples by Raymond Jones and Dakota Conners.
CSUEB tallied six runs on six hits and two CSUEB errors in the bottom of the fifth inning to make it 11-1.
The Cougars cut the Pioneer lead to 11-5 with four runs, all generated by pinch hitters, in the top of the sixth. Freshman

Jose Osete notched back-to-back RBI singles. Sophomore
Riley Froom drew a bases-loaded walk and junior
Domenic Antonacci recorded a sacrifice fly to center field.
The Pioneers put the game out of reach with three runs on two hits in the eighth inning.
Jones went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs.
The Cougars return home on Thursday, March 29 to begin a four-game series against No. 20 Cal State Monterey Bay.
