HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team held the lead nearly eight innings before falling to Cal State East Bay, 3-2, on a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth on Friday afternoon.
The Cougars fall to 12-11 overall and 7-10 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play while the Pioneers improve to 11-12, 8-9 in conference action.

Aidan Stinnett went 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

Näshéa Diggs led off the game with a double through the left side and later scored on a groundout to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
That score held until the sixth inning, when CSUEB's Evan Steele drew a leadoff walk and scored on Raymond Jones' single to left center.
CSUSM retook the lead in the next frame on Stinnett's two-out RBI single to right center.
In the ninth, Jones reached on a CSUSM error and scored on Dey's double through the left side to tie the game at 2-2. Colt Parshall hit the walk-off single to hand the Pioneers the win.

Taylor Greene had a no-decision despite going eight innings, allowing one run on eight hits and struck out four. Junior
Austin Ott (0-2) took the loss after entering in the ninth.
CSUEB's R.J. Hanson (4-1) went six innings, gave up one run on six hits and struck out five.
The Cougars and Pioneers will play a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday, March 24.
