SAN MARCOS, Calif. –
Ethan Alvano of the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team has been named to the 2017-18 Division 2 Collegiate Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-West Region first team honors, officials announced Monday.
The senior guard from Corona, Calif. led the Cougars to a 20-win season in their first season of being full-fledged members of NCAA Division II.
Alvano, who was named to the All-CCAA first team, led the conference in points (20.5), assists (5.9) and steals (2.6) per game. He averaged 35.8 minutes per game while shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from behind the arc.
A three-time CCAA Player of the Week selection, Alvano is the all-time leading scorer in program history and the first one to surpass the 1,000-point threshold. He set a new scoring record with 41 points against Concordia Irvine on Nov. 11.
