SAN MARCOS, Calif. – On Senior Night, the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team took down Cal State Dominguez Hills, 93-78, in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Saturday night inside The Sports Center. Seniors

Chris Porter were honored prior to the contest, as they played in their final home game of the regular season.
CSUSM reached the 20-win plateau following the win as they improve to 20-8 overall and 15-7 in conference action. The Toros fall to 13-16, 10-12 CCAA.
The Cougars' season continues on Tuesday, Feb. 27 as they host San Francisco State in the opening round of the CCAA Championships. This will be the first playoff game held on the CSUSM campus of any sport since becoming official NCAA Division II members this past summer. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Junior
Dalton Soffer scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting including 5-of-7 from the perimeter. Seniors
Joe Boyd and
Josh Spiers tallied 18 and 16 points, respectively. Classmate
Ethan Alvano recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 assists to go with three steals in a team-high 32 minutes.
The Cougars took a 10-point lead (51-41) into halftime after shooting a blistering 62.96 percent (17-of-27) from the field including 9-of-11 from behind the arc.
CSUSM would eventually stretch its lead in the second half to 25 points following Alvano's 3-pointer at the 8:38 mark. This was the Cougars' largest lead of the night.
CSUSM won the rebounding battle, 33-29, as well outscoring the Toros 34-27 on points in the paint.
For the game, the Cougars shot 53.1 percent from the field and went 14-of-25 (56.0 percent) from the perimeter.
CSUDH's Jonathan Nichols led the team with 16 points.
