POMONA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team fell 2-1 to Cal Poly Pomona in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) game on Saturday afternoon at Scolinos Field.

CSUSM drops to 5-3 overall and 0-2 in CCAA action while the Broncos improve to 5-3, 2-0 CCAA.

Offensively, the Cougars had three players with multi-hit games including senior Tyler Place (2-for-4), junior Austin Ott (2-for-4) and freshman Joseph Bahna (2-for-4).

The Broncos scored first with a run in the bottom of the third. They would later add another run in the fifth inning following a sacrifice fly from Matt Manskar to make it a 2-0.

The Cougars would answer with a run and two hits in the ninth inning, but their comeback effort would fall just short.
