Two Unanswered Goals Put CSUSB Past CSUSM

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Two unanswered goals put Cal State San Bernardino past the Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team by a score of 2-1 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Sunday afternoon at Premier Field.

CSUSM – 48' Tyler Schrock (Assist: Josh Mendez and Parker Hodges)
CSUSB – 57' Jesus Ortega (Assist: Isaac Campos)
CSUSB – 72' Jesus Ortega (Assist: Danny Ortiz)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Schrock put the Cougars up 1-0 in the 48th minute after sending in a rebound towards the far-left post.
  • The Coyotes knotted the game at 1-1 in the 57th minute with a goal by Ortega. Campos crossed the ball to the far-right post before Ortega put a one-touch ball to the left side of the net.
  • Ortega's second goal put CSUSB up 2-1 in the 72nd minute after he received a back pass from Ortiz that found the lower left slot.
 
QUICK KICKS
  • The Cougars move to 6-5-2 (2-4-2 CCAA) while the Coyotes improve to 9-4 (6-2 CCAA).
  • Schrock now has two goals for the season – tied for the third-most on the team.
  • The Coyotes had a 12-7 advantage in shots while both sides each took two corner kicks.
 
UP NEXT
With its three-game road trip complete, CSUSM will return to The Cage for its next-to-last home game of the season on Friday against Cal State Dominguez Hills. First kick is set for 3 p.m.
