CHICO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team had to go the distance on Friday night at Art Acker Gymnasium, but the Cougars came out victorious with a five-set California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) win at Chico State.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM and Chico traded leads in the opening set until the 11-11 mark when the Cougars went on a five-point run. The Wildcats rallied back and the teams eventually went past the 25-point mark.
- Chico hit .359 and collected three blocks to record the 27-25 first set win. CSUSM recorded a .277 attack percentage and finished with one block.
- CSUSM took the second set 25-20 behind a four-block performance and made three less hitting errors than the Wildcats.
- The Cougars took a quick 7-3 lead in the third set and held on to record a 25-23 win. CSUSM registered four aces and four blocks in the victory.
- The Wildcats came out hot in the fourth set, leading two-thirds of it before clinching a 25-19 win and forcing a fifth set.
- CSUSM took control of the fifth set early with a 5-0 lead and never trailed.
