SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team dropped a 71-66 decision to visiting California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opponent Chico State on Friday night at The Sports Center.
The Cougars fall to 2-9 overall and 2-5 in conference action. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 8-5 overall, 6-3 in CCAA play.

Monica Friedl tallied four points, four rebounds and four blocked shots.
CSUSM closed out the first quarter with a 9-2 run to even the contest at 13-13. The Cougars carried the momentum into the second quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 21-14 to take a 34-27 into the locker room.
The determining factor in the second half was a 19-of-20 performance at the charity stripe by the Wildcats.
CSUSM outrebounded Chico State 36-34 and finished with six blocked shots.
The Cougars return to the court on Saturday, Jan. 6 when they host Humboldt State in The Sports Center. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
