Cougars Drop 1-0 Decision at CSULA

LOS ANGELES – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Cal State L.A. on Friday, Sept. 22 at Jesse Owens Track.

CSULA's Julian Zamora was able to work his way past a couple CSUSM defenders and finish to the far post for what proved to be the game winner in the 49th minute for the Golden Eagles.

The Cougars fall to 2-3-2 overall and 0-2-1 in CCAA play. CSULA improves to 7-1, 2-1 CCAA following the win.

"We played great tonight, had a lot of really great moments" said head coach Ron Pulvers. "Got caught in transition one time and that was the difference in the game tonight."

The Cougars best chance to score came in the 36th minute when freshman Dante Longo banged a shot off the crossbar in the opening half.

CSULA held a 17-4 advantage in shots and edged the Cougars 3-2 in corner kick chances.

CSUSM will take on Cal State Dominguez Hills on the road in CCAA play on Monday, Sept. 25 with kick-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
